Rock Your Hair: Rock It Big Volumizing Hairspray and Bombshell Volumizing Powder

First: The packaging is way cute; yet edgy. I loved the fuchsia color of the items; BOTH adorned with crystals inside their heart-shaped logo that definitely has a rock&roll feel; as did the lettering, graphics and product names!

Now, the big question: how did the products work? Umm, FAN-FUNKIN-TASTICLY!

I have a lot of very thick, heavy hair, so I was a bit skeptical about the volumizing powder and it’s hold.

WRONG! It HELD through several brushings (one with a heated brush), my rushing around all over; in and out of the car and the wind whipping my hair all over!

I had volume, especially at the heaviest parts of my hair, no chalky powder residue anywhere, no itching, and it didn’t dry out my hair/scalp; no problems! That’s a great product! Hello “Bombshell!”, I Love you! 😜

“Spray It Big” can be used before styling and after for extra hold. I sprayed a very light mist after thoroughly brushing my hair and before rebrushing with a heated brush at a 500° temp.

There was no burning my hair, no crunching sound from the heat reacting to the hairspray. It even gave my hair a slight curl, which amazed me – since the heated brush really doesn’t work in that area (despite the claims from the brush company 😡)!

My hair held its shape (as I explained above) and I had only hit it with a second brief mist before I was out the door.

Using very little product, my hair remained as I styled it, was soft, supple and touchable. No 80s helmet head, no 90s crunchy strands! I could run my fingers through my hair and it felt great, as healthy hair should!

Hell YES, @rock_your_hair definitely rocked MY hair – all day (+ night) long – with very little used! I loved both products; they worked great together/separate!

Now how do I test the rest of the product line, @rock_your_hair? 😎

Make sure your auburn locks survive the summer.

Florence Welch, Emma Stone, Lily Cole, Christina Hendricks… red hair is having a bit of a moment. Whether you’re blessed with naturally auburn locks, or you’ve turned to the bottle to fake it, you will need to protect your hair from the sun, whose UV rays can steal colour of its vibrancy.

First, shampoo: the best we’ve found is matrix biolage’s colorcaretherapie paraben-free one (£9.25, 0800 387608), which contains flavonoids to filter out UV rays and is PH neutral, to keep hair smooth and soft.

To revive colour, apply Daniel Hersheson’s Gloss Shine (£18, hershesons.com ) twice a week after shampoo. We love the copper tone of Russian Red.

It’s also worth making a weekly appointment with a tub of Full Shimmer Illuminating treatment by Shu Uemura (£39.50, 0800 633 5021). It contains musk rose oil to restore vibrancy, and vitamin A to prevent fading. And to be really on-trend, apply some coral lipstick, as seen at Jeremy Laing’s spring/summer show.
